New Month, New Coupons!
Here are a few gems I found this morning:
Eat Better America: you'll need to register, but once you do, you'll have access to slightly higher value coupons than on other sites. I'm particularly excited about:

85c/1 any flavor/variety Muir Glen product which should make for some darn-near-free tomato paste
Local to the Pacific Northwest, but widely available and ORGANIC!!!...this coupon is 10c higher than is offered on Coupons.com
And of course, Coupons.com...remember to access via Swagbucks.com for reward points!!!
I used zipcode 98233 and found:
75c/1 Muir Glen- use if you need to stock up
1.50/1 Seattle's Best Coffee- retails for 6 bucks at Walmart = cheap coffee
1/2 Stash Tea- 2/$4 at safeway this week!
2/1 Jason Body Wash
Happy printing!!!

Free Sample of Baby Formula
Babies R Us is offering a free sample (a full day's worth!) of formula. I'm fortunate enough to be able breastfeed, but that isn't always an option for everyone. Formula is expensive stuff, so I sign up for every single formula sample I can. Here's how I put it to good use:
- donate to food pantry or shelter
- give it to the working mom you know who doesn't have time to request samples
- use it as an instant gift for your next baby shower

toysfortots.org
Got a Facebook account? Time to put it to good use! "Like" TurboTax's page and play their
Game for Good. Once you've completed the game, TurboTax will donate a toy to Toys for Tots. I was toy 976! Great cause and it only takes a minute to make a kid smile.

20 Free 5x7 Holiday Cards at Staples
credit: Real Simple
I recently got 10 Holiday cards from InkGarden and just paid 3 bucks worth of shipping, which was a pretty great deal. Here's an even better one: Staples is offering 20 custom 5x7 holiday cards. You can pick up in store or order online, but if you have a staples close, I'd try to avoid the shipping charges. This deal really make me wish I weren't so
Mega Swagbucks!
I'll be honest- I really didn't think that signing up for a Swagbucks account was worth it. But I tried it anyway, and I'm so glad I did.
Fridays are Mega Swagbucks Day, where new members get tons of bonus swagbucks, just for signing up. You'll definitely want to wait until Friday to create you account. There is a button at the very bottom of the blog- you can click there and it'll take you where you need to go.
Swagbucks periodically rewards you for performing searches using their search engine, printing and redeeming coupons, answering polls, and lots of other activites you are probably already doing online. You'll definitely want to download the toolbar, too. Just make sure you are signed in when you're online!
You can redeem your swagbucks for all sorts of rewards, but my favorite is the $5 virtual Amazon.com gift card, which takes 450 swagbucks to earn. This is free money for us- I order most of our kids' diapers and wipes through Amazon.
Enjoy :)

White's Premium Dog Food, Free Sample
White's is offering a free sample of either Chicken&Rice or Lamb and Rice. Click here to sign up.
There is always a chance they won't send these to the US, since they are a British company, but the signup is quick, so I think it is worth a shot.

I thought you might! You can go here and get your coupon good for any 12oz Community Coffee product, absolutely free.

Super Cheap Crocs
My husband is so great- he's gotten two new pairs of shoes this week alone! I might even tell him he's done this, too :)
Anyway, if you aren't already a member of Zulily, I'd recommend signing up. It's a daily deal site with some pretty sweet discounts.
Today, Zulily has some great deals on Crocs and you can get 3.5% cash back thru ebates, too. If you missed the detailed instructions on working the ebates system, click here.
I found these for 14.99, which is even cheaper than 6pm.com (which is another good sale site) where they were 29.99. You don't want to know how much they are on crocs.com
My total wasn't enough to use a coupon code on, but there is a 10% off $30 or more on retailmenot ;)
Shipping was 6.95, so that was kind of a bummer, but all in, all done, this was still a super cheap pair of Crocs. Another cool feature of Zulily is that once you buy one item and spring for the shipping, you can enjoy free shipping on any purchases made in the next 24 hours.
Super Amazing Land's End Code
Land's End has some truly awesome deals right now- I love their Overstock Clearance section :) AND, you can use the code DISCOVERLE with pin 6702 to score 25% off AND free shipping on any purchase, no minimums!
Remember to shop thru ebates or shopathome first for that cash back!

$1/1 Cheerios Original Cereal!
Awesome! The usual Cheerios coupons are 50c, so this $1/1 coupon is awesome! These make for super cheap toddler snacks in our house! Print quick and print twice- these will probably reach their limit soon!
Online Shopping Tips
Due to our State's tax structure, I typically find that it is less expensive to order an item online and have the company ship it, rather than using the post office/Fedex/UPS. With Christmas looming on the horizon, I though I'd share a couple of tricks for getting the best deals online. Here's a deal I worked last night:
I've needed new sneakers for a while now. My first step was to go to ebates.com. If you're new to ebates, you'll need to register, but it's quick and painless. You can use shopathome, too but their registration process is more involved, so I just stick with ebates for simplicity.
I looked under the "Shoes" tab and saw that they were offering 7% cash back on Puma purchases. Once you've chosen your store, just click their link; a tracking ticket will be opened up and you'll be automatically diverted to the site you've chosen.
Once on Puma's site, I clicked on the Sale tab and found these babies:
Originally $65, they were on sale for $31.85. At roughly 50% off, that was a pretty good deal on it's own. I added them to my cart and proceeded to checkout. Shipping was a flat $7.00 and tax was 8.2%, which brought my total to $42.46. Not cool.
So, I went to retailmenot and searched for "puma coupon code" where I found PUMASHIP1011, which took the $7 shipping fee off! My grand total for the order was now $35.46
So, back to the whole ebates thing. With 7% cash back, I'll receive $2.48 in my ebates account, which will effectively make my sneakers $33 bucks, all in all done, which is pretty darn good for getting Puma's shipped to your doorstep! My ebates credit will take 2-3 business days to show up in my account. Once I've reached $5 in cash back (not hard to with Christmas coming up and a big family), I'll be able to request the entire amount in the format I choose, ie paypal, gift card, etc.
Note: I find that retailmenot is the most reliable site for codes, but if you can't find what you need, a good old fashioned google search will probably get the job done, too.

Idahoan Potatoes Coupon
credit: idahoan.com
Idahoan Potatoes is offering a 75c/3 Flavored Mashed Potatoes Packets, 4.1 oz or smaller. Click "Print coupon" on upper right side of page. These retail for about a buck each, so if you need quick, realatively cheap mashed potatoes, here you go.
Kashi Cereals- Play and get $1/1
Kashi TM
I'm not usually a huge kashi fan, but I have to admit that the cereals are pretty tasty. You can go here to play The Bowl Game and receive your coupon. SInce Kashi isn't the cheapest, I'll be holding onto this one until I find a good sale.
Kroger Affiliate Match-ups
I absolutely love our Fred Meyer- for those of you with Kroger stores or Kroger affiliate stores, you may want to take a look at Coupon Connections's Kroger Matchups. I really like her click and print list feature, too! Remember to load your loyalty card with Saving Star coupons before you go, too! If you are unfamiliar with Savingstar, you can click here for the lowdown.
Nature Sweet Coupon
naturesweet.com
Yum! Nature Sweet is offering a .75/1 cherry tomato coupon! Note: I successfully printed twice!
Saving Star- Load to Card
Saving Star is a load-to-card coupon site that allows you to double dip on coupons. Here's how it works:
1. Register your shopper loyalty cards on their site- for our area, that means Fred Meyer and Albertson's. Each coupon you add will automatically hit each card you have registered. When you are done adding coupons, you have the option to either email yourself a summary or print it out. I print mine and keep it in my coupon organizer.
2. Match your loaded coupons to any clipped or printed coupons you have.
3. Swipe your card at checkout AND use your paper coupons. The Saving Star coupon will NOT be reflected on your grocery bill, just the paper coupon.
4. Log into Saving Star. When your coupons redeemed via card add up to $5, you will have the option to select one of several ways to get your money back. I personally like PayPal, but you can just as easily request a gift card.
Example: At this time of year, there aren't like to be any great deals on BBQ sauce. Unfortunately, we are out and need more. I've loaded a $1/2 Sweet Baby Ray's to my card and also printed a $1/2 coupon from Wounded Warrior Project's Savings tab. The last time I checked, Fred Meyer had Sweet Baby Ray's for $1.88 ea. I'll buy 2 and (eventually) get $2 off, making my OOP $1.76 or .88 ea. Not a great deal, but not a bad one, either.

Peanut Butter Price Hike
Have you heard that peanut butter is expected to go up by around 40%? Now is the time to stock up! Here is a great coupon for Peter Pan $1.50/3, so you should be able to get it for less than $2 per jar.
You'd giggle if you saw my pantry right now- we have enough peanut butter to last us about a year. My husband is really peanut butter picky- try saying that 5 times fast. No generics, no crunchy, and preferably JIF, though he allows Peter Pan and Skippy if they're on special :)

Right now, you can visit their site and print out tons of great, high value coupons. Your purchase of these products will help support our troops (just in time for Veteran's Day, hint hint).
Go here and scroll down just a bit, then click on the "Savings" button.

New Stackable Toy Coupons
Update: the Elefun Busy Ball Popper was 24.98 at Target, so with both coupons, we paid 14.98. We already had to hide it from the munchkin- she just knew it was for her!
Target has some great new toy coupons, many of which match up with the Hasbro coupons we've been seeing in Sunday papers lately. Transformers, Leapfrog, and Hasbro are included, just to name a few.
Here's what we're planning on getting our little girl for Christmas: should be $10.00 off after coupons!

Sugar Pumpkins 99c @ Albertson's
Our Albertson's is selling Sugar pumpkins for 99c each! I got 3. We baked them at 350 for about an hour and a half and pureed with a bit of water before freezing. Each pumpkin yielded about 6 cups of puree. Combined with the Pillsbury Pie Crust coupons in last Sunday's paper, this will make for some very cheap pumpkin pies!
New Target Catalina and Deal Idea
Our local Target just got a small grocery section, which is very exciting for me, because I used to do 90% of our grocery shopping at the SuperTarget we lived near in Texas. For their grand opening, they sent me a coupon good for a free dozen Market Pantry eggs, regularly priced 1.39. I stacked that with a .55/2 dozen eggs form Incredible Edible Egg NLA.
So, for 2 dozen eggs my total OOP was 84c. This worked because Target allows the use of 1 store coupon and 1 manufacturer's coupon per item.
This would have been great, but out popped a Catalina for $3/$25 grocery purchase. And I got another Target mailer with some great coupons for produce and a coupon for free Kraft Macaroni. The Catalina coupon was pretty vague, so I made sure to hand it to the cashier first. I didn't want to risk them interpreting it as "$25 after coupons!"
Here's how I worked the deal:
1 bag Fresh Express Spinach, sale priced $1.00
Used $1.00 any bagged salad Target Mailer
Final Price: Free
Kraft Shapes macaroni $1.19
Used Free any Kraft Shapes Target Mailer
Final Price: Free
2 Campbell's Slow Kettle Soups @ 2.99 ea
Used (2) 1.25/1 Manufacturer's coupon
Final Price: 3.48 for 2 (not the cheapest way to buy soup, but a very cheap 2 working lunches for the husband)
2 Celestial Seasonings tea @ 2.39 ea
Used $1/2 Manufacturer's coupon found in specially marked boxes of celestial Seasonings
Final Price: 3.78 for 2
3 lb. bagged apples 2.79
Used 1 off any bagged apples Target Mailer
Final Price: 1.79 or .59/lb!
4 Archer Farms frozen vegetables @ .89 ea
Used 1 off any 4 Archer Farms Frozen Veggies Target printable coupon
Final Price: 2.56 for 4
1 Gold Peak Tea single 1.49
Used 1 off 1 Gold Peak
Final Price: .49
1 6pk Honey Brown Beer 5.99
Final OOP: 15.39 (we paid tax on the beer)

Brita Filtration System- Free After Rebate?
We're really fortunate to have great tasting water in the Pacific Northwest, but with a move on the horizon, we're going to go ahead and snap one of these up, just in case.
Here's the deal: Brita is offering a $10 mail in rebate good for any pour-through or faucet mount system. Go here to print yours. You'll have to scroll down a bit to view.
Then, go here to print your $5 off coupon- look on the right hand side of the page. You'll have to fill out a form, but it'll be worth it!
Our Walmart sells a "slim" Brita pitcher for about 9 bucks; if you can find that model, yours wil be free after rebate. I'm told you can find the faucet mount for about $10, but I haven't verified that. There's always the chance Brita will refund the full retail price, so you may be able to make money on this deal. Or you can just use the collective $15 to offset the cost of a really nice Brita!

Coupon Metrics- How Much Should You Be Saving?
It's so easy to watch TLC's Extreme Couponing and feel like you have to be getting everything for free or 10 cents or you suck at using coupons. It's hard to keep in mind that those trips are staged and that the 100 bottles of hot sauce they just bought might look impressive, but sure isn't going to keep their families fed. So how much can you realistically expect to save?
Groceries: I typically save between 22 and 40 percent, with a typical savings of about 30%. If you're saving 85% on your grocery bill, you are probably eating crap food. I don't do this to see how cheap I can stuff pop tarts down my kids. I do this to provide them the highest quality foods we can reasonably afford. I've also started taking 15% from our 30% average savings and plowing it right back into the grocery budget to afford more organic items.
Toiletries: Ok, this is where I save the big bucks. You can realistically expect a minimum savings of 60% in this category. I shoot for 75%- sometimes I do better than that and sometimes not. I have a 6 month toiletry stockpile in our bathroom, which I'll show you later.
Bear in mind that I stay home with the kiddos, so finding the deals is my part-time job. The bottom line- don't make yourself nuts. If you save even 2 bucks on your groceries a week, that's $104 dollars a year. Do what you can, when you can :)

1. Bissell Stomp n Go pads. Visit coupons.com to print your $1.00 coupon, too. I used area code 30313; 64123 should work, too. If the manufacturer refunds the full retail price, there's the potential to make a buck off this freebie, too. Note: the coupon says "Available at Walmart," but you don't have to use it there.
2. Woolite Oxy Deep carpet stain and Odor Remover. Target carries these in our area, but you should be able to find them just about anywhere.

Coupon Karma- Installment 1
Something I really love about using coupons is that it gives me the ability to help someone else out at little to no cost. My "charity" of choice the IA (individual augmentee for y'all civilians= someone deployed someplace sandy) box located in my husband's command. Though most overseas installations have places for troops to buy necessities, shipments quite often get hung up in customs. it can literally be near impossible to find basics such as toothpaste and deodorant. The IA box gets around that, as it is usually hand-delivered by a military member visiting the installation in question. The idea came from a couponing girl friend, formerly a military spouse, as well. She proposed that we pick a dollar amount that we'd never miss from our budgets- even $2 will go a long way here! Then, we'd use coupons to see how much stuff we could get free/dirt cheap to send over. Here's my contribution to the box:
1. Bananboat sunscreen 2.47 after $4/1 coupon
2. 4 cans silly string ,just for fun! leftover from my daughter's birthday party
3. Bengay cost $4.24, made me 76c after $5/1 coupon!
4. Colgate Max, 52c after coupons, bought 2
5. U by Kotex panty liners, 18 ct. 24c after coupon
6. Suave professionals dry shampoo, free (won a promotional coupon)
7. Degree travel deodorant, 22c after coupon
Total OOP: $3.47!
Obviously, this works for just about any good deed. I know people who coupon for toiletries or pet items to give to their favorite shelter, be it human or animal. using coupons has been such a blessing for our family's budget- it's so nice to be able to pay that forward!

My Trip to Walmart
Walmart isn't usually my favorite store, but sometimes you can find find some great freebies. You can also use their coupon policy to make money, or at least reduce your tab. Walmart states that in the event that a coupon's face value is greater than the cost of the item, they will either pay you the overage, or apply the overage to your total order.
For example: A couple of months ago I used a $5/1 BenGay printable to buy a BenGay item selling for $4.24. The 76c difference was taken off the rest of my tab. Pretty sweet, huh? Fine print- taxes are calculated before coupons, so buy wisely!
Anyway, here's a recap of my trip:
1 .Bought 2 Febreze Noticeables warmers @2.97 ea
Used (2) Febreeze Notceables Warmers $3/1 8/28 PG
Overage of $0.06
2.Cascade Action Pacs, 3ct @ $0 .97
Used $0.50 from Right at Home mailer- you can sign up here
OOP $0.47
3.U by kotex 18ct @ $1.24
Used $1/ any U by Kotex-mailed w/ sample

Final Price: 2.47 ea
5. (2) 1lb. bags of organc carrots for Mr. Pony @ .88 ea

Total OOP before tax: $5.65 I'm particularly proud of my sunscreen deal- I'll be storing one for us next summer and sending one off to a very deserving service member overseas. Stay tuned for ideas on using coupons to support our troops!

Glade Candle Deal at Target
We scored a pretty decent deal on Glade candles this week at Target- (5) fall collection jar candles for 7.50 pretax. Here's how:
1.Glade fall collection jar candles on sale for 2 for $5.00
2.Print Target store coupon $2.50 off with purchase of 5 Glade Fall Collection air care items.
3.Stack with (2) $1 off 2 glade candles from coupons.com
Final Price: $1.50 each wyb 5. Not too bad for a 22 hour candle! We live in the Pacific Northwest AND have dogs. These candles rock at getting wet dog smell out!
Target's store policy allows the use of one Target Store coupon and one manufacturer's coupon per item. Be ready to defend your couponing honor if challenged by a cashier! ;)
Welcome!
I've always been into freebies, but I've recently expanded my cheapskate-ness to include a liberal use of coupons. Why? When we got pregant with our second child, I decided to see if there was a way to fit two kids into our budget for the price of one. I decided to give this couponing thing a trial period of two months; if it worked we'd keep doing it, if not, we'd quit. Did it work? Just ask my husband- our savings in the 2 month trial period freed up enough money to buy a new BBQ grill ( a nice one.) Why did he get to go play with my hard earned savings, you ask? Hmm. Because I'm a sucker for his big brown eyes and he knows it!
Baby number 2 has since been born and I can honestly say that we're still doing better financially than we were with just one kiddo. Isn't he cute?! And the kid is pretty adorable, too ;)
At any rate, one if my coupon buddies once told me that I made couponing easy for her- "I just stalk your facebook page!" Which gave me the idea to consolidate my better finds in one place...because I am just that sweet.
We are a military family, so I'll be including Commissary deals, but I shop around to get the best deals, so there will be plenty of civilain-friendly stuff, too! Happy deal hunting!
