Saving Star is a load-to-card coupon site that allows you to double dip on coupons. Here's how it works:
1. Register your shopper loyalty cards on their site- for our area, that means Fred Meyer and Albertson's. Each coupon you add will automatically hit each card you have registered. When you are done adding coupons, you have the option to either email yourself a summary or print it out. I print mine and keep it in my coupon organizer.
2. Match your loaded coupons to any clipped or printed coupons you have.
3. Swipe your card at checkout AND use your paper coupons. The Saving Star coupon will NOT be reflected on your grocery bill, just the paper coupon.
4. Log into Saving Star. When your coupons redeemed via card add up to $5, you will have the option to select one of several ways to get your money back. I personally like PayPal, but you can just as easily request a gift card.
Example: At this time of year, there aren't like to be any great deals on BBQ sauce. Unfortunately, we are out and need more. I've loaded a $1/2 Sweet Baby Ray's to my card and also printed a $1/2 coupon from Wounded Warrior Project's Savings tab. The last time I checked, Fred Meyer had Sweet Baby Ray's for $1.88 ea. I'll buy 2 and (eventually) get $2 off, making my OOP $1.76 or .88 ea. Not a great deal, but not a bad one, either.
